0x0000007b after installation

Installation goes fine but presents STOP 0x0000007B when it reboots to finish
it.

This is a clean install with a completely formatted 25 GB partition.
I have updated the BIOS to the latest version (1.D) and get the same problem
after reformating and reinstalling.
I have run a CHKDSK /R on the installation drive and it found no errors.
I have removed all non-essential peripherals as well as disabled all
non-essential onboard devices. In additon I am using a PS2 mouse and
keyboard.

I don't know what else to try. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am having similar problem.
I had Vista installed before since November kept trying new build #'s.
Then january came tried newer RTM stuff I got from School worked until the
2nd week of January.

Now I got the Retail DVD... After its installed it just reboots and doesnt
make it to Welcome Screen (errors out there) but cant see what its trying to
tell me.

PENTIUM 4 PRESCOTT HT 3.0GHZ
2X512MB DDR400 2X1GB DDR400 (TRIED WITH ONLY 2X512MB OR 2X1GB STICKS TOO)
WD 160GB + WD 20GB SLAVE
NEC DVDRW
ATI SAPPHIRE RADEON X1600 PRO

On my machine I believe I have narrowed this down to a problem with the
partitions on the disk or possibly the fact that its a dynamic disk.

I at first had a dynamic disk with a 25 GB volume and the rest in another
volume. I wiped the disk clean and made it a basic disk and now its working
fine.

You may need a drive controller installed at the F6 prompt when you
install windows. I had same problem with an nForce nvidia chipset. You
may find that you have more problems with vista, as according to dell,
the chipset is not supported by Vista (yet). See my other post I just
started.
