Was SATA on the motherboard or did you add it? Are special drivers required
for your SATA controller? Have you checked either the motherboard
manufacturer or controller card manufacturer for the latest Vista compatible
drivers?

If you added in the card, how old is the system, are you sure the BIOS
supports SATA and/or have you checked for BIOS updates that might address
the issue. NOTE: if the update address it, should be specified in the
release notes, don't simply update the BIOS thinking that will help if the
update doesn't directly address the issue.

Did you check the nVidia's website to make sure they are the latest drivers?
Drivers change rapidly and nVidia has had a lot of trouble with their
drivers since Vista was released. Also, the website's support section may
have reference to this issue with information about what to do about it.
