After trying several fixes from MS for the problems I found out that I had a
BROWSER HIGHJACKER on my PC who had changed the DNS servers under TCP/IP.
After putting this back to automatic all my problems with Windows update and
the updates for Webdefender functioned again ok. I hope this is to use for
somebody.

Had the same problem for the passed two weeks. Found the solution elsewere,
but was interested to see if anyone else still had thid problem. My DSN was
set at
85.255.116.37.
