I had this error also after removing "Live Messenger 2009" but after
searching i found another installations that didn't show this error, but what
happened is in the end of the installation a message appears saying "We
couldn't install Messenger". so it is not installed and also i found in
"Add/Remove Programs" SW called "Windows Live Call" which can't be removed
from "Start menu" or from "Add/Remove Programs". Please kindly if anyone
knows how to help please notify. By the way i tried "ZapMessenger" but
nothing happened. Thanks for ur time.

Here's what I had to do in order to fix the same problem you had, Doc.

http://www.groovypost.com/howto/geek...c-failure-fix/

I believe the above link now goes to an installer that has the 'current
release' version.

1. Run the custom setup found at the ms url above;
2. Uninstall all Live apps in Add-Remove (not all will uninstall);
3. Remove all other Live apps with the Windows Install Cleanup program;
4. Run a check on your registry to remove the stuff left over, or run
ZapMessenger;
5. Reboot;
6. Run the custom setup program as in step 1, full install successful.

Well I HOPE this works correctly now, as I haven't downloaded-installed the
'new Messenger' that was touted to me today in Hotmail. I still have the
setup program that worked for me if necessary, though hopefully not
necessary.

Hope this helps.

First of all thanks for replying, but i can't uninstall from "Add/Remove
Programs" i don't know why, but nothing happens when i click on
"Change/Remove" button so i can't remove "Windows Live Essentials", and as a
result i can't uninstall and reintall again. For the link u sent me i didn't
find any file inorder to install. Thanks for your help. I'm waiting for your
reply.
