Hi, Everyone!
The environment is SBS2003 and about 25 client (all WinXP/SP2)
workstations. It had a non-functioning SUS installation, which I
de-installed about a week ago. I've since installed WSUS and fought the
client software into submission. .. and then made required changes
via logon script with KixTart.
This is a NON-Trivial solution, in my opinion. It's not a big deal for
me, but for LOTS of people out there ("want fries with that" MCSE's)..
it'll be a show stopper.
The *REAL* problem, as I perceive it, is this; it seems that there's a
AU/WU client, a "legacy" AU/WU client, various IIS complexities and
whatnot. This is too complex. The errors reported by various
components of the solution are not well enough supported by "the
community".. or Microsoft documentation.
This is a really badly hacked together solution.
It needs to be THROWN THE **** OUT and replaced with a better supported
solution, immediately.
My apologies to those that find that language offensive -- I use it to
attempt to express how vehemently I believe in that statement.
Please, PLEASE, will someone PLEASE put that idea up into the powers
that be at Microsoft..?
Thanks, everyone.
- Scott.
