One of our PCs stopped reporting to our WSUS server (a couple of weeks ago,
without me noticing!).

The WINDOWSUPDATE.LOG file shows the following errors

WARNING: CEventNamespaceDefinition::Init failed = 80040154.
WARNING: InitReportingComponents failed: 80040154

and then proceeds with other failures.

I have tried manually regsvr32 all the dlls I can find.
Trying to do a manual Windows Update from the windows site, it says that
some of my dlls are missing or not registered, would I like to sort it out
automatically? Yes! Still no better.

I should really like to uninstall the whole of my Windows Update software,
and reinstall from scratch - but is this possible?

Or can anyone help with a solution to the problem?

(Our other PCs are OK, so it is a PC problem, not a WSUS server problem.)

thanks,

Bob

well, you can download all the updates again like so:

rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download to
c:\WINDOXP\SoftwareDistribution\Download.old and all updates will be
downloaded and applied again.

hope this helps,
