045dI'm having problems that have only started occurring within the last few
hours

Setup
Vista ultimate
C:\ 160Gb Sata
F:\ 750Gb Sata
G:\500Gb IDE

Copying files larger than 200 MB from 'G:\' to 'C:\' any location on the
drive fails resulting in an error "0X8007045d: The Request could not be
performed because of an device error

The Same file can be successfully copied from F:\ to C:\ to any location on
the drive

Copying between folders on G:\ is failing returning the same error.

Thinking the disk is corrupt I have played the files in question which have
worked successfully.

These files range from AVI, Mpeg and wave and is either recorded tv from my
internal tuner and backups from my streaming radio show as well as some post
production work from live concerts.

I have tried burning these files to bluray and dvd and it has returned the
same error.

I can confirm i"m listed as the owner of these files in the ownership tab,.

Need help urgently pls

My first suspect would be the IDE driver.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the disk drive device in
question (G, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the
device drivers again automatically.

Is Drive G accessed through usb port? I've seen this issue in multiple
cases and it seems to be a bug MS did not fix yet.

Go to computer properties > Advanced system settings > System protection
tab.
Uncheck all drives, hit apply. This will turn of shadow copies and clear
them.
Reenable the drives, hit apply.

(You may want to click the create button to create one retore point)

Try the files now. Does it work?

If not, do the above, but do not re-enable the drives and test a copy. Does
it work?
