0x80072EFD:Windows Update failed after installing 2K3 standard SP1

I tried several suggestions from this group and other from the web such as:
- entered MS WU servers to trusted sites.
- checked the host file on the server (only local host existed)
- stopped then started WU service.
- regsvr32 wuapi.dll and some other dll files
- ipconfig /flushdns
- removed softwaredistribution directory
- changed to manual, then automatic configuration for proxy server.
- even, reinstalled the server.

None can solve the above problem. Windows Update failed. Note that it can
access other web pages.

If you have any idea, please help.

Disable any software accelerator programs. Examples of these programs are file
download accelerators and internet speed accelerators
Check your filewall settings, at one stage my firewall was blocking WU.
