I am using WinXP SP1, Guest account with Administrator rights, I get the
0x800A0046 error after I go to the wu site and choose either of the 2 choices
for updates. I can login to the machine as Administrator and it works fine.
I have tried everything from the internet and this site, it still doesn't
work. I don't have the "Impersonate..." service, that must be a Win2k thing
or Windows Server policy. We have a Novell Network, I don't think it is
related to our network because I have taken machines to my home cable
connection and they do the same thing. Any help would be great.

Tripndrag,

I had the same problem, not having the impersonate thing, etc...
What you need to do is boot up into Safe Mode and log on as the
Administrator account that appears (not your normal logon). When you have
booted up, click on start and go to RUN, type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2.

A properties box will appear where you should see all your logon's and the
groups that they belong to, make sure that your normal logon is part of the
Administrators group. Restart the PC in normal mode and try your updates
again.

Good Luck!
