I am using Vista, Windows Mail and am now getting this error.

I do not have email scanning turned on in my Anti-virus program, Shaw Secure.

My ISP is Shaw Cable. I use MSGtag so my settings are as follows.
Incoming: shawmail.cg.shawcable.net
Outgoing: localhost
MSG tag requires the outgoing port set at 7362.

I am able to send some mail with attachments but not all.
I have a router, Linksys WRT54G and I am using the default settings.
I tried changing the router settings, the MTU to 1458 and adding email
settings to the Games & Acces. but neither worked. I tried checking in
command prompt for the optimum MTU setting but kept getting a Bad parameter
-f response.

I have downloaded WMUtil and attempted to clear any hidden outbox mail.
When I check the 'File Statistics' it says I have 121 total files and 0 zero
byte files ( the total files number changes as I keep trying to clear
things.) I have compacted the database through this utility and have my
email set to automatically compact the email on a regular basis.

If I attempt to send this from another identity which does not use MSGtag it
will send. This appears to be an intermittent problem. The last time I used
the WMUtil to clear the outbox it fixed the problem. This time it does not
seem to do it.

The exact message reads:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject ' strange!!', Account: 'shawmail.cg.shawcable.net',
Server: 'localhost', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 7362, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any idea what could be causing the problem?
thanks,

Hello Clybella,

Your question would be better addressed to the Vista Mail newsgroup where
you will get a better audience for your query.

Good luck
