I'm with you. MS knows there is a problem but apparently isn't going to fix
it or respond to it. My Compaq support people told me the following:
To fix it you have to reinstall your original (yes, original) Windows XP
(from the OEM disk).
If you don't need it, ignore it.
I've done that and the only problem is Windows Update keeps telling me I
need to install the frigg'n updates.
By the way, it's the same error for Net 1.0 SP3 and Net 1.1 SP1. Neither
one of them installs and both give the same 0x80131506 error.
