Whenever I start WU it hangs on the 'Checking for the latest version of the
Windows Update software...' page. I do not have a Zonealarm firewall, as the
Troubleshooter suggests. I can get past that page if I go deep enough into
support for the 'Home' button to become activated. I can click it, and get as
far as the progress bar for updates (but without any progress - it's just the
outline), at which the page hangs again. I have been through the
troubleshooter and found no help. In fact, there is nothing regarding this
error ANYWHERE on the internet! I found it in my WindowsUpdate.log file:
2004-09-30 15:15:57+0100 1020 530 WU client failed Searching for update with
error 0x8024001b

This is a fresh install of Windows, with SP2 installed from a CD before I
even considered connecting to the net.
