I have been trying to run security updates but keep getting bounced back with
the above error code and "The website has encountered a problem and cannot
display the page you are trying to view"

Can anyone help as trying to find the code concerned bounces me around the
system but tells me nothing.

Thanks

I'm having the same problem, been like this for days now & yet on another
computer in the house on the same wireless network there are no problems.

Anyone who can help I'm sure Mike & I would be very greatful as I can't
locate this error code on the site.

I looked through previous postings & Ray 23/10 also had the problem. I read
x@y's reply which is go to this site
http://www.hanselman.com/blog/Resett...x8024001D.aspx
I did the same as it suggested, renamed the Windows Software folder & it
reset mine & all is working correctly, I hope, now although there are no
updates to install at the mo but I don't get any error codes.

Hope this works for everyone else?

an update had bogus metadata

Clear out your temporary internet files.

Remove WU downloads from the temporary folder:-

Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the Download folder
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

By deleting the contents of the Download folder - you have removed any downloaded
updates.

If that doesn't work then you'll need to rename the softwaredistribution folder:

Renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder: a. Click Start, click Run, type
%systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this folder.

Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.
