Because of this I can download updates, but they won't install.

Does anyone know a workaround for this?

Yeah, I normally don't post a question unless I've exhausted all other
avenues for answers.

I tried both Google and the Usenet search and apparently a people have had
this problem for almost a year with no resolution.

If I find one, I'll post it.

Hi;

You need to be logged in as an Administrator for Windows Update to
function properly. Even using "Run as" isn't sufficient.

Also check that you do not have 3rd party pop-up blockers
installed/running, as these may prevent interaction between WU and
yourself that could be stalling the install process.
