I think that the information after all of those "Warnings" near the bottom
of the log is the significant part that I need solved, but I am not sure. I
hope that this wasn't already answered. I was reading these threads on this
error and I even tried some of their solutions, such as typing the "net stop
and start wuauserv" command in cmd and then deleting all of the updates in
"windows\softwaredistribution\download" folder, but to no avail. Thank you.

[Crossposted to WSUS-specific newsgroup as it would appear that the machine
updates or had updated via WSUS]

Windows version of the machine in question, please?

Is this your personal machine or one at work (or school)? If the former,
was the machine once or ever used in a public school in California?

cf. MVP Lawrence Garvin's replies in this archived, related thread:

Wow thank you with the quick reply. Yeah sorry about that. The Windows
version is XP Pro w/ SP2. Yes it is on a domain and belongs to a public
school. I work for county education actually, but I'm the weekend guy, so I
don't really have any clue which school the PC came from. Plus I'm quite
green as you can tell. So, because it is on a domain, even with admin
privileges, I can't update the PC via Microsoft update? I have never had
this issue before so I'm anxious to learn whats going on here. Thank you.

Hello,

0x80244008 translates to WU_E_PT_SOAPCLIENT_PARSEFAULT Same as
SOAPCLIENT_PARSEFAULT_ERROR - SOAP client failed to parse a SOAP fault.

It appears this is an issue with the wsus server and the wsus client.

If your wsus admin looked in his iis logs, he should also see the following
error:
ClientWebService/client.asmx - 500 Windows-Update-Agent

If so, have him perform the following:

Run aspnet_iisreg.exe -i and restart the IIS services .

Try to open wsus admin page and I get the following error "Service
Unavailable".

Go to IIS Manager and try to browse the page and I get the same error.

See Diana's reply.

Assuming it's a laptop and you've been attempting to update at home (since
16 Mar-08 was a Sunday), see if you can update it when the machine's
connected at the school. IOW the machine "wants" to use the server at
school as its update source so no, you can't use Microsoft Update at home.

DIana, is this the "official" remediation for 0x80244008 errors?

Or just a diagnostic step to see if the error is resolved?
