hellow everybody:

I have the same problem like you. And I had tried all solution articles
about this subject but in vain. Luckly, I finally had overcame it !

My solution is to set default to IE and all update function worked. BUt
the service of automatic update and bits have to be active and automatic
update's active type must be auto .

turn off the firewall in windows and you can workaround the problem. After
updating turn the firewall on again. Hopefully windows will have a cure in
the near future

Hi!
I'm using the F-Secure Internet Security 2004 Firewall. I disabled it while
scanning for updates in WU. Everything worked fine. Thanks for everybody! I
do hope Microsoft fixes 0x80244010 problem soon... I don't like like the idea
of having a connection without a firewall, even for a little while.

I've tried all the sugestions also (MSXML, BITS, CPU, cache, etc.). The
problem only went away when I installed Visual Studio. At this point I
believe that the problem can be related do .NET Framework 1.1

Hope this helps some of you.

The root can be seen in the link
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/windows_update_codes.htm, which says that the
error code 0x80244010 is a SUS problem (Software Update Services). So we
can't do nothing but wait Microsoft to correct this trouble.

This worlked for me

There are 2 stages

1. Visit this link and download .Net 1.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Click download and install fix

2. A. . Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSXML.DLL" (without the
quotes,
please
note there is a space between Regsvr32 and the file name). You should see a
popup
message that this process succeeded.

B. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSXML2.DLL" (without the quotes,
please
note there is a space between Regsvr32 and the file name). You should see a
popup
message that this process succeeded.

C. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL" (without the quotes,
please
note there is a space between Regsvr32 and the file name). You should see a
popup
message that this process succeeded

Now try running the update once again.
