0x80244010 Windows Update has encountered an error

and cannot display the requested page.

I get this error when i try to do updates after installing SP2.

It is soooo frustrating.. HELP!! Im not hearing back from anybody at
microsoft.. i can't be the only one having this problem!!

Ive tried editing the registry.. it didnt help.

Turn off your firewall software

I don't think that this problem has somenthing to do with SP2 or any firewall
software, because in my case this error even occurs after formatting and
completely new-installing Windows XP Home Edition SP1.

The only logical conclusion is that Microsoft changed something on Windows
Update - because some time ago it was possible to update my computer using
the Windows Update-Website after a fresh installation of Windows.

I hope that Microsoft is working on that issue, because I surely won't take
this much more longer...

I think there is a change from Microsoft. I had to open my a PC 2 weeks.
Today I found the error message
