0x80244017

Hi everyone,

I don't know if I should post this message here or at the virtual pc
newsgroup. Anyway... I have an XP SP2 connected to the internet (broad band)
and I'm running a virtual pc that's running Win2003. From the virtual
machine I can access the windows update site but alway get this error number
(0x80244017) when windows update is scanning the vm.

I read some messages mentioning that this is usually because I'm trying to
access the Windows Update Web site from a Windows XP-based computer that is
behind a firewall or a proxy server. I've already run proxycfg -d and I've
disabled the firewall from both machines for a couple of minutes and I still
get this error message.

Can anyone help me?

I finally got it working. I had to stop 2 services:
- Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
- WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service

After doing so, I could finally use Windows Update on my VM.
