0x80244019 trying to run WIndows Update in XP

Hello,

My PC is running XP Home Edition SP2. I have been using WIndows Update
without significant problems in the past. Since last week, I keep on getting
error 0x80244019.

I have tried various the "usual suspects" circumventions suggested in the
fora, without succes. IE still does work, and I am working in an account with
Admin rights. The last update I could install with succes was KB890830
(installed on November 11).

Any suggestions on how I can resolve this ?

Some further attempts demonstrated my "usual suspects" line had been
incomplete: the problem is resolved now, following "proxycfg -d" from a
command prompt.
