0x80244022

Cannot update latest microsoft updates effective today... any other computer
on my home network (4) can do so easily... but not this one I have tried
several times and keep getting error 0x80244022

According to one Sandi Hardmeier
(http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/63.html) the following is what that
error (which I also got) means.

0x80244022 -2145107934 SUS_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_SERVICE_UNAVAIL Http status 503
- temporarily overloaded

Sounds like a busy signal on the Update server. I'm going to try d/l'ing the
updates directly from MS Download.

Re your problems which I see others have experienced with IE7 and Windows
Update.
I also had this problem but I got desperate and started IE7 without addons.
You do that by right-clicking on the IE icon and pick Start without add-ons
and go to Windows Update. The updates download and install without a hitch.

I had to shut off my AdWatch (part of Adaware SE professional). It has never
blocked an update before, but there is always a first time. I don't know how
I arrived at this conclusion -- some wierd thought process that evolved from
my frustration with the fact that I could not change my default search engine
while the hijacker blocker was active on Adwatch. Since I did not try
deactivating individual options prior to just shutting the whole thing down,
can't say if the hijacker blocker was the issue or some other function of
Adwatch.

I had this problem about one hour ago with error message 0x80244022.
I went back to window update it download in full installed just fine.

Appears everyone across the Internet had this problem earlier today, I
experienced the same thing this AM (NY Time, after about 3 attempts all
updates failed. According to some of the forum members, I read that MS was
having an "overload problem" on their Windows Update Server earlier today.
About 10 minutes ago I was finally able to download and install all
updates...so just keep trying. !
