Hello,
When I try to get the latest windows update , the process (and the attached
window where I see "The updates are being downloaded and installed") stays
inactive for several minutes and finally the update process in negative !!
When I select the process and I get the Microsoft Update explanation window
it says "Installation failure error code 0x80246008" for all the updates.
I did try more than 10 time to get these updates without success.
What must I do to get these updates?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Please try this:

Start Regedit.exe (from Start/Run)

Locate the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\BackupRestore\

Create the following key if it does not exist:
FilesNotToBackup

so you have this path when finished:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l
\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup\

Most likely some uninstall routine for some software have
deleted the key.

Just leave the key in place.
