I have been trying to update my Windows for the last two or three days, but
every time I go to the site, it asks me if I want to to an express or custom
install to which it does not matter which I choose, it then goes off to
never-never land with the windows update window open and a cursor flashing in
the box where it normally tells you what is going on. When I select the
History, it tells me every update failed with 0x80246008 error.
My WindowsUpdate.Log, tells me the last update was performed on 7/8/05, so I
know that this has only happened within the last month or so.
What do I do?

Hi JohnnieV,

Have a look at this thread:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...a571d60e581468
In his Jul 14 posting, Justin H wrote out the fix that worked for him
(though the suggestions made by TaurArian may be the "key" to resolving the
problem for you) . You can run the regsvr32 commands from a command prompt
within Windows, or from the "Open" field in Start>Run.
