0x80246008, SP2

4 attempts to install SP2 on XP Home. First error msg=0x80246008. All
subsequent attempts fail with 0xD0000005.

SP2 Wizard is backing up files, creating restore point. Then encounters
problem and needs to close.

Error Signature data: AppName: Update.exe AppVer: 5.5.1005.0 ModVer:
5.1.2600.1106 ModNAme: scecli.dll Offset: 00003c00

Have tried installing from downloaded info as well as CD. Have made sure
BITS is STARTED (whatever that means).

Am middle aged white male with aptitude for wizardry. Any assistance
greatly appreciated.

I meant to write the first error msg as 0x8024600A & to say I am NOT a wizard.
