Nothing worked until a tech said to try this.....
Please try this:
1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type (or copy/paste from this post)
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
(note the space there in the middle)
4. Click OK.
Do the same for this two DLLs as well:
qmgr.dll
qmgrprxy.dll
After the regsvr32 command, start regedit.exe (from Start/Run)
and locate the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\wuauserv
If you find a DeleteFlag value there, delete the DeleteFlag value.
I didn't have the HKEY_LOCAL in the regerstry, but anyhow just be running
these and didn't do anything to them...manual is now working...go figure ;-D
