trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 in a VMWare virtual machine. And I am still
only at 59%.

Heck, Vista installed in 32 minutes under VMWare.

No problems here, and I used the Upgrade Install Method, I have not yet
tried it in a Virtual Machine however, just fyi.

Your lucky..
it won't install on my Sony Vaio pcg fx101.
there is some possibility that the alternative install disk might work.

Finally installed. 2 hours and 50 minutes from initial boot to desktop. WOW!

Windows XP installs in VMWare Workstation in 35 minutes. Vista installs in
23 minutes. Both XP and Vista start out in the initial VMWare window and the
window enlarges *once* to its final resolution. Ubuntu starts out small,
then goes to larger than the size of my 20 inch monitor - then it is again
reduced to the final resolution. The same 3 changes upon shutdown.

So far I am not impressed!

I was going to leave, but since everyone is talking about how they
dislike the new Open Source Linux Ubuntu 7.10 RTW Release, I guess that
I need to stay here just a little bit longer in order to tell people how
much I love the new open source linux ubuntu 7.10 release and to Defend
the Rights of the Linux Community's Civil Liberties, just fyi.
