Every couple of days when I turn on my computer there's a high pitched
beeping noise from the hard drive. When I turn on the monitor the above
message appears. However pressing "any key on the keyboard or mouse" does
nothing. When this happens it stays like this for a up to 5 days and then,
for no apparent reason, it'll start up OK once again. I've searched through
the troubleshooter for similar problem but have had no luck so far. Any
advice would be very much appreciated.

How does this relate to Windows Update?

I'd recommend that you take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
