1. can't update, 2. one update won't install

I had a minor harddrive failure, and after restart XP (pro) didn't
start, and I used my windows XP CD to repair the windows installation.

Windows started, but windowsupdate told me to update a lot of things
(which I'd already done before the HD-failure). When I try to install
these updates, i get failure on all updates.

I guess I already have those updates so that I don't have to reinstall
them, so I have marked these updates not to notify me again. Though,
the last one, KB883939, always reappear on automaticly downloded
updates.

So, any suggestions, do I have these updates already installed, or is
my computer unsafe?

Any help appreciated.

Please try downloading Windows Update Agent 3.0 manually via
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe
and installing it with parameter "/wuforce"
("WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce).

KB883939 ist an outdated Cumulative Update for IE dating June 2005.
It has been replaced several times since then.

Are you sure about SP2 for Windows XP is installed already?

Thanks, after installing Windows Update Agent 3.0, the updates are now
able to install successfully.
