I managed to download and install a few of the 9 available updates available
to me today, then for some reason, the install process froze on 5 of 9. I
rebooted, went back to windows update, and it keeps freezing when installing
5 of 9. if I manually try and install all others besides the 5th, i get an
error saying the other ones couldn;t be installed.

SpecificAlly it says :

Security Update for Windows XP (KB901017) was cancelled (theres a grey minus
sign when reviewing your update history)

The following have red x's and error codes: KB904706 (Error Code:
0x8007F205 ), KB905749 ( Error Code: 0x8007F205 ) , KB900725 (Error Code:
0x800706BE ). KB905414 (Error Code: 0x8007F205 ), KB901017 (Error Code:
0x8007F205 )

pLEASE HELP THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND IM HAVING ANXIETY ATTACKS.

Have you considered letting Automatic Updates take care of everything?

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in Windows XP:

One, it works just fine here.

Two, you can configure AU to notify you of available updates and/or download
them but not to install them automatically, giving you the opportunity to
disable AV prior to accepting the install. See the link I posted.

Not here. The icon appears and it does nothing.

I knew that but you wrote, and I quote: "Have you considered letting
Automatic Updates take care of everything". To me, "everything" means
installing as well as downloading.

Given the excessive demand on the servers (and other threads here and
elsewhere with pleas similar to yours), I'd not be surprised if it took AU
until the 18th or 19th to offer/download/install these updates. We saw
similar demand and problems in Aug-05 when 6 patches were released. This
time there are 9 of the suckers.

I have the same problem. I am hoping it is the excessive demand (even with
the broadband). Will wait a few days and then try again.
