I have two problems:
I have just tried to do a repair of XP and then subsequently renew all the
updates for it.
The first update the system tried to download was KB898641. When checking
history file it should as installed but then every time I tried to do
further updates it kept trying to redo 898461. I have tried everything I
can. changing registry, running autofixes, changing file names, manual
downloads, defragged, chkdsk, cleandisk, etc etc .
Once I did get past the 898461 and I had 58 updates to do. Because of the
second problem of extremely slow downloads/updates I lost my connection and
then couldnt get the updates working.
I am at a loss now to know what to do next.
The second problem I mentioned above is that the updates take an age to
download, initialize and install.
It takes about 30 mins to an hour just to update 898461. When doing it
manually althought the download is quick, the creation of a restore point
also takes forever.
Sorry if this is all over the place but in summary
1) Cant get past 898461
2) Extremely slow downloads and updates of anything
Please help!
