I know this was posted over a week ago and that you are probably sorted
but I have been living with the exact same problem.
I found out it had something to do with a dodgy Vista update KB935280.
So I uninstalled this update and downloaded it manually from th
Microsoft website and re-installed it.
It is sorted.
I have now turned off automatic updates, so they will only install whe
I want to install them. (Although now my onecare is complaining that m
PC is 'at risk'! - but that is another problem to sort.)
I think the update hadn't finished installing when my PC needed
restart from one of the other eight updates that night. I had put i
in sleep mode and it seems to do updates over night. And it hadn'
gone back to sleep, so I had to properly shut down and restart.
I am surprised that I could only find two posts on the whole of th
internet relating to this issue - and they were both from the sam
dude
