2 Windows Update Files -- hacked?

In my C:\WINDOWS folder I have two Windows Update files.
One is over a meg, and it titled "WindowsUpdate.log" (no space)
The other only has a reference to May Updates and is titled
"Windows Update.log" (a space)

QUESTIONS:
1. Why are there two? Is this a sign of hacking?
2. Can I delete or zap one or both of them?

Thanks!

That is the current one.

That relates to an earlier version of Windows Update

See above.

No.

As you wish. But they are useful log files for diagnosing problems.

In addition to Robin's sage advice, the Windows Update.log is used when
downloading updates from the Windows Catalog.
One can delete the contents of the log, but the logs should be retained
as they will be recreated when doing either Automatic Updates or via the
Catalog.

Let's worry about this instead: Did you ever install WinXP SP2?

Something is fishy, but they're posting from different NNTP Posting
Hosts and using different newsreaders, BroRo.
Fishy uses Forte Agent v.1.91/32.564; "innocent" is using CDO.
It's not Fishy posting as "innocent" or vice versa.

Arrrrrrrgh! You are persistent!

I tried to install SP2. In the process I managed to muck up my
system. In the process of restoring it, I made it worse. So I saved
what I could to another drive, reformatted, and am reinstalling.

Probably not a bad idea after 5 years.

This is why I wait -- I'm busy busy busy during the school year
and can't afford a mistake by me or M$ (which isn't perfect, IIRC). I
devote my "vacations" to housecleaning, yardwork, and computer
updating.

Now are you happy?
PS: Please see my other post about my problem trying to install
SP1.

Arrrrrrrgh! You are irritating! Casting dispersions upon my good
name, impugning my character. Please mind your manners. There's only
one fishy and no, I don't have another posting ID. Don't be so
paranoid!
