Hello I have a Dell 2000 computer and it stopped working. It is not starting
because according to it their are missing files and is corrupt. Attempt to
repair is advised though is asking for the original set-up floppy disk or
cd-rom, any advisers?

Insert CD into drive and attempt to repair. If you can't repair, then wipe
system clean and reload. Of course you have data backups. Right?

Have you consulted the documentation that came with your computer and/or the
Dell web site for details on how to reinstall Windows on your device?

Insert the Recovery media and follow the instructions (read the computer
manual about restoring the system etc)

You should have the disk - it should have come with the computer. If not, I
expect the computer has a hidden 'restore' partition that has the files to
return the computer to its factory condition.

It would be best to call DELL support since they are the ones supporting the
hardware and any software *they* installed at the factory (such as OEM
Windows). The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supports the software.

If all else fails, take it back to the supplier, or authorised repairer and
claim a warranty service (if such a thing as this is covered under DELL
warranties) - save opening the case yourself and voiding any possible
warranty.

These instructions are basically what you need to do, they may vary for your
particular DELL, but I think the basic idea is the same.
