After performing a few Server 2003 and SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migrations the
official way I decided to give sbsmigration.com a try. Go that way. It's
well worth the $200.00. It will easily save you $200.00 worth of time. It
has the added bonus of leaving the original server intact in case something
goes wrong. I had one migration that had a time and billing program using
MSDE installed on the original server. It was a major pain to get up and
running on 2008. I had to do a couple of bare metal restores of the 2003
server to keep the business up while issues were worked out with the app on
the 2008 server. I wasted ten hours of non-billable time. The migration took
a week longer than expected. Sbsmigration.com seems very inexpensive after
that.
