2003 Server SP1 on AD/Exchange server problem

Hi,

We recently installed 2003 server SP1 on one of our 2003 Server Standard
machines hosting AD and running exchange 2003.

The install went fine, but on reboot i could not log in: pressing
ctrl-alt-del at promt merely brough the "press ctrl-alt-del" prompt back up
again.

If left for 20-30secs at this point, we would get a critical error caused by
lsass.exe and an automatic reboot would occur.

The server would boot back up into safe mode ok, and the event viewer showed
problems with RPC and Cryptographic services, which are dependent, although
it wasnt clear which service was failing and causing a problem with the other.

The lsass error lead me to do a quick check for blaster, but clean.

We had to get the server back up again quick, so I un-installed the service
pack and all is fine again, but we need to get it on at some point.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I seen this problem in Windows XP and 2003 and most cases it relates to the
userinit settng in the registry. See the following links for more information.
