I just finished up my SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migration using the same KB
article.I even implemented ISA 2006 on a seperate machine of course. All
went well although there were a few minor tweaks at the ned that need very
little attention.
If you are going to use that KB to do your migration here is a very
important tip for you based on my experience. Clean up AD as much as
possible. That means remove user accounts and groups no longer needed as
well as any old computer accounts. Clean up exchange as much as possible and
especially the users deleted items folder. Also make sure they clean their
Inboxes as well as there Sent Mail boxes. If need be run eseutil if
necessary to recover unused disk space but more importantly to bring over
clean stores.
Here's one last final tip and very very important. Both SBS boxes can remain
on the network for 21 days. this is a good thing because you can bypass some
steps and revisit them later to finish such as moving companyweb or moving
data and shared folders. Do not do the final step "Finish SBS Migration"
until you are finished with the old SBS 2003 box. this will dcpromo that SBS
2003 box and the 21 day rule is no voided. Good luck.
