What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
Before uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2007, try...
1. Inserting your Office CD into the appropriate drive bay before the next
installation attempt.
2. Doing a Reset (run Fix It in Default *and* Aggressive modes) followed by
a reboot:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
3. Rebooting into a Clean Boot environment
(
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434) before the next installation
attempt.
4. Running a Repair of Office 2007.
Do NOT run the Windows Installer Cleanup utility in an attempt to remove
Office 2007!
If you ever think your Registry needs to be cleaned, repaired, boosted,
tuned-up, cured, tweaked, or optimized (it doesn't), read
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions.
