I recently installed Windows 2000 Professional on my computer. And went from
dial up to Cable. My computer seemed to be a bit sluggish so I was looking
for ways to enhance perfomance. I found that I should download updates. So I
clicked on the "Tray Icon" and it gave me many update options. I only
selected "critical updates" then clicked download or update now.
When I move the mouse to the Tray Icon it tells me "Downloadin Updates 55%"
It has been downloading for almos 24 hours now. If I try to click or right
click on the Icon, I only have the option to "pause". Why is this taking so
long? And, should I have clicked on start and then "Windows Update" to let
windows scan and determine the updates that I need? I don't think I've ever
done an update for Windows before. But nothing has ever taken this long to
download. Please help me understand what to do in the future as far as
updating is concerned and tell me if I've done something wrong. Is it normal
for the update to take so long?
Thanks for any help, Debbie

Go here http://bandwidthplace.com/ and test the speed of your connection. It
should not have taken anything close to 24-hours to download critical
updates.
