I have 3 updates to Vista Business that will not install; SQL Server 2005
Express SP3 (KB955706), Security Update for SQL Server SP2 (KB954606), & a
Security Update for PowerPoint 2007 (KB951338). Over the past few months I
have tried updating in safe mode, ran upgrade as admin (even thouigh I log in
under admin user group), put the Office CD in the drive before updating,
updated in safe mode, unregistered the dll's... Other updates install fine.

If I had the time I'd reinstall Vista, but I really do not have the time or
patience to do that right now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Try downloading the updates from windows download, not windows update. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/s...displaylang=En
You can enter the KB# into the search box to locate the update.
Install each manually. (double click the file)

I will try downloading and installing each, but I have tried that before (I
forgot to mention that in my original email).

I will try downloading and then installing again (I had tried that
previously for at least one of the updates, but I forgot to mention it in my
original message).

Ok Just tried to install the PowerPoint update (it was the smallest file and
quickest download) and I received the following error message:

"The detection failed, this can be due to a corrupted installation database."

Earlier today I unregistered all the dll's mentioned in several other posts,
registered, rebooted, etc.

Office 2007 SP1, Vista Business SP1

Error Message:
SQL Server 2005 Express SP3 (KB955706) returns "Code D"
Security Update for SQL Server SP2 (KB954606) returns "Code 8007066F"
Security Update for PowerPoint 2007 (KB951338) returns "Code 733F"

And of course "Get Help With The Error" in every case is useless.

Thanks again
