if its a 64 or 32 bit version. How can I check this out? thanks

When you don't know, it is 32 bit.

If it was the 64-bit version, it would be so marked. Since it isn't
marked, you have the 32-bit version. If you want to see what something
looks like, go do a Google Image search, like:

If you were accurate in saying that you *have* the "operating system"
(which means it is installed and usable) then why not go check yourself?
In Windows XP, run "winver". If it doesn't say it is a 64-bit version
then it isn't (so the only choice left would be for a 32-bit version).

• Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

If you have to ask, it's probably not WinXP 64-bit.

Did you purchase 64 bit? You'd know, because it's pricey, and you would have
asked for it.

If you've installed it, right click on My Computer and choose properties -
if it's 64-bit it'll say so on the General tab. If it doesn't, it's 32-bit
(note it will not say 32-bit anywhere, but it won't say 64-bit).
