i,just ordered a new dell machine. it comes w/vista 64 bit home pre..
i did not realize this was a "JUMP" of a bridge. so i've been doin
research, after the fact, and i find, prayer is in order..i have foun
that a piece of software i use for school doesn't "like" 64 bit and i'
sure with a little more research i'll find other issues..

so i made a plan..but i don't know if it will work or how to do it.

1. can i repartition my new 500 gig hd and load both 32 & 64 bit on it
i've read a little on other forums(it sounds like the answer) but
wanted to hear it from ppl that know.

2.if yes, how do i do it

3 if no, any suggestions?

 feeling ill

Hi,

Yes, you can load both on the same system with a partitioned hard drive. You
could also load Virtual PC into the preinstalled x64 system and then load
the 32-bit version as a virtual machine for your software.

What you will need is a second Vista license and an install disk for the
32-bit version. Retail or generic OEM should do fine.

its never a good idea to run two operating systems on the same drive
have you tried running the program in compatibility mode
another option would be to load it on a virtual machine. (i think

Microsoft has a similar product, for free, called Microsoft Virtual PC 2007,
with which you can both create and run virtual machines. Download it here
...watch the URL wrap:
