34 not installed Win. updates

Hi- I have been trying to 'clean up' my moms pc. I consider myself a novice
so I do what I can with whatever knowledge I have; I go visit (about every
3-4 weeks)-She had 34 windows updates to install according to the balloon
that poped up in task bar. I decided to click 'install' and it showed the
progress bar. I should have seen which ones they were before clicking so
that I could make sure that they are the critical ones the pc needs. So I
stopped the installation. Next time I visit (shes out of town), I want to
see which ones those are and then do it.
-Do I need to go to the MS web site to see installtion history & pick from
there; or is there a way of finding out which ones were the ones shown on
the balloon that day.
-she still has sp1 and I have the sp2 cd to lend her when its appropriate to
do.
She has NEVER surfed the internet but other family members have and I need
to help her keep her pc safe for when others (grandkids ) use it-
She has expired norton-I put adaware and scan each time I go.clickspring and
purity scan, and alexa were the latest malware I removed.

Advise you to ensure the system is TOTALLY free of ALL malware and
then install SP2 instead of attempting to install the " 34 not
installed Win. updates ". SP2 will mitigate the need for those updates.
Once you have SP2 installed, then go to Windows Update to check for
anything that may still be needed.
