Hi,
I installed the 4/12/06 updates last night and so far everything is working
fine. I have not had any of the reported problems others on this forum are
having. Should I remove these updates , or leave well enough alone. I do not
mean to gloat, I have had my share of problems due to MS updates killing a
perfectly running computer. Anyone else out there with these updates
working? I was not able to get windows update to install the updates on my
laptop, and after reading this forum, I do not intend to.

XP sp2 Home Ed, MS Office 2000, OE 6, IE 6
Gateway 505GR, Pentium 4, 3 GHz, 1 gig ram
All previous updates for XP and Office 2000 installed

Regards,

James K.

The same here on *a lot* of systems and we are not alone.

Leave them alone. The problems seem to occur on some circumstances
yet unknown. The suspect for the problems in conjunction with the
patches (especially KB90851 alias MS06-015) right now is a HP Scanner
hardware connected to the machine and having the (or a special version)
of the HP Scanner software installed.

Bye,

well Guys:

I have just faced issues with the 3-4 Windows 2003 Server in particular not
rebooting automatically (After clicking Rrestart Now) after updating the
Critical Patches. Has anybody faced this issues. If Yes... What is the reason
and possible solution??

Thanks
MZ

So far so good.

Only problem is on a few 2000 boxes not rebooting and requiring a power off
after installation.

Just so you can get an opinion from the other side:
KB908531 did cause problems on my computer and I'm waiting to see if MS
comes out with a fix that doesn't involve me having to dabble in the registry
myself. Until then I will probably leave that particular update uninstalled.

That being said, my opinion is that if everything is working for you then
definitely leave the updates installed. I too have had updates that worked
fine for me but others had problems with. Just keep in mind everything
you've seen about the problems this update has caused some people. That way
if you experience any future problems you won't be driving yourself nuts
trying to figure out what happened. I suspect there's more to it than the
"HP share to web" scenario and sometimes the least used function of some
program may turn up glitchy without you knowing it for weeks.

For your laptop you might try going to the update site and downloading and
installing the critical updates one at a time leaving KB908531 for last.
Congratulations on your good fortune with the other computer. I appreciate
the way you posted, I've seen so many others that replied to threads
basically saying they didn't have any problems. That irks me because it not
only doesn't help anyone but implies that whoever asked the question must
have done something wrong. Your question gives you the info you need -
"mine's okay, is there a problem with that or am I missing something" kind of
approach. Healthy skepticism. Wish the rest of us poor slobs good luck.
