4/15/05 Automatic Update Disabled My Wireless Network

The 4/15/05 automatic update to XP Security Pack 2 disabled my home network
connections... after four days I'm still trying to restore them.

The update, once installed, appears to be irreverible -- NONE of the system
restore points can be accesssed. (It's labled "Software Distribution Service
2.0" in the System Restore.)

The update was installed while networked components were operating -- and
immediately stopped, so there's a clear cause-and-effect.

Any suggestions on how to work around this? At this point, I'm inclined to
turn the Auto Updates off and take a RISK of having the system attacked,
rather than having Auto Updates make it a SURE THING.

"Warren Fwy",

I am sorry you are hitting this issue. Since the update installed, however, you
will likely get a better answer from the Windows XP newsgroups, since they have
the experience with specific issues. Please repost your questions to the
following newsgroups, and you are likely to get a much more detailed, efficient
solution:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web
microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
microsoft.public.windowsxp

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]
