I hade Vista 64 Ultimate running on an Intel DG965WH motherboard with 8 GB
RAM. Vista was very slow. Logitech camera showed garbled picture.
I cut visible RAM to 4095 MB in msconfig. Vista now boots at least twice as
fast,
is more responsive and the Webcam picture is superb!

Computers are fun!

could be bad RAM, or mismatched RAM, etc.

It's 4 sticks of G.Skill 2 GB RAM with identical specs. Also, it passes
Memtest diagnostics.
Is there a more comprehensive memory test program? I'd like to really root
out any
possible errors. Thanks!

Are the Memory Hole (and MTRR, if available) BIOS settings set correctly for
more than 4GB of RAM?

Nah. This is an Intel motherboard. It doesn't allow access to any of those
parameters.
They simply aren't in the BIOS. Is there a way to open up hidden BIOS
options on an Intel
motherboard?

On the Intel website they state that 8GB of DDR2 RAM has to be a
specific speed and such or there will be issues.

A post on the web (not from me) indicates the following issues with 8GB
"I have 8GB of DDR2-800, and my Intel DG965WH motherboard only supports
4GB at that speed. I would have to drop to 533 or 667 DDR2's to go up to
8GB (and I can't just clock it down; I tried that)."
