4 updates failing

I have automatic updates configured on my home pc. For the past week it has
been telling me that i have updates to install but every time I do so they
keep failing, but I don't get an error message (and I don't know how to find
one).
The four updates are KB913807, KB905756, KB914454 and KB905474.
They seem to download ok (says 'complete') but when it comes to installing
them they all fail. What am I doing wrong? Is there another way to download
them?

Go to the Windows Update or Microsoft Update web site.
Click on "Review your update history."
Failed updates will show a red cross in the Status column.
Click on the red cross, and a popup will appear with diagnostic information.
Copy that diagnostic information into a followup in this thread.

I had that problem. I found this tool and ran it. I was able to update after
using it.

Ihave tried every way I know, but no diagnostics come up. I have tried
clicking once and twice but nothing happens. I checked, and I definitely have
pop ups allowed for this site. When I scroll my mouse over the X it wants to
go to the site http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/. I right hand
clicked to 'open this link' and it takes me back to the update screen
(express or custom). I am starting to tear out my hair again!!

If the updates have downloaded, they will be in this folder:

In the Run box, type: %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\download
Click OK.
You will see some folders with long names.

In these folders, you'll notice an update folder in each of the folders

Open the Update folder - and you should see a clue as to which update it belongs
to.

If you double click on the update.exe, the update may install - some users have
had success with that.

otherwise
You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798
or
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log
and then click OK.

Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error
code(s) associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install. If
appropriate copy and paste the error codes into this thread so someone may be
able to assist you. On the other hand, you may be able to find the error code
and other suggestions by searching the Newsgroup.

Also check Windows folder for file called KB******.log (****** = number of
update ie KB896688) and post the contents of the failed update.
This may provide further clues as to why the update failed.

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file:

I couldn't tell from the first procedure which update it belongs to - of the
ones I found they said 'windows service update'. I wasn't sure whether to
click on it or not, so I did the second one using the windows update log. I
have copied the most recent 'fail' here. Not sure what to look for in regards
to an error code.
Thanks
