Hi,

Can any one help please.

I've searched high and low for these KB files and to my surprise I'm unable
to find anything, not even via the search engine.

This is the message I get:
------
Initializing installation... done!
Installing Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB919031) (update 1 of
4)... failed!
Installing Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB918419) (update 2 of 4)...
failed!
Installing Security Update for Office 2003 (KB917151) (update 3 of 4)...
failed!
Installing Security Update for Office 2003 (KB914455) (update 4 of 4)...
-------

Does anyone have a solution please to fix this... I've tried turning off my
firewall, but this didn't do anything either.

Thanks in advance.

Warm regards,

Loz

It seems likely that your Office 2003 installation is damaged. Have you at
any time recently used a so-called "Registry Cleaner"? If so, it is
possible that your registry is now damaged in respect of the Office 2003
entries.

For instance, the Windows Live Safety Center registry scan might cause these
problems.

If this case applies to you, you should back your system up to a time before
you used the registry cleaner.

To restore from the backup made by the Windows Live Safety Center, do the
following:

1. Use control panel "Folder Options", tab "View", to enable "Show hidden
files
and folders", and un-check "Hide extensions for known file types".

2. Close all Internet Explorer windows.

3. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Windows Live Safety
Center\BackUp\

and double-click the .reg file previously created by the Microsoft Safety
registry cleanup.

Please report back whether this fixes your problem.

Otherwise, you can try:

1. In any Office 2003 application, pull down Tools, and select "Detect and
Repair" (it might require the Office installation CD-ROM).

2. Uninstall Office 2003 completely, and re-install, then apply the latest
Office 2003 Service Pack and all pending Office 2003 updates.

Cheers Robin,

But I don't use that software you mention of.

My Office software works fine, if it were damaged, it wouldn't work.
This also doesn't explain why outlook express update wont install either.
It has nothing to do with office 2003. Weird.. any other suggestions mate?

Cheers.

Warm regards,

Loz

It is damaged because the updates will not install.

Strange, it said it installed it ok, now I got this:

Updates were unable to be successfully installed:
------------
Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB919031)
Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB918419)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB917151)
Security Update for Office 2003 (KB914455)
---------

And the yellow sheid thing keeps popping up telling me the updates are ready
to install..

Any clues?

Cheers,

Warm regards,

Loz

Robin,

I have used a Reg cleaner (Regedit) but I have sued it before and oterh
updates worked after last use of it. I did go and reset Register to condition
before last clean.

I have also replaced OSE file from Office 2003 disc and rebooted but I still
get the Error Code: 0x80070643 message. I have checekd that OSE is enabled.

I am a bit reluctant to re-instll Office 2003. Will I lose associated work
files?

It also seems a bit odd that several people are having problems with this
particular installation.

Regards,

Barry

Before you resort to re-installing Office, have you tried "Detect and
Repair" as previously advised?

Removing and re-installing Office will not lose any documents filed in other
folders.
