If it's "HIGH DENSITY" RAM and your motherboard doesnt support HIGH DENSITY
it will only show as and act at half values.

google 'high density ram'

32bit windows systems do not or are not capable of using all 4 gigs...The
easiest way for you to get the answer that you need would be to search this
newsgroup for this same question that has been posted many times and is
explained much better than I could...also see this article

I have a Dell XPS600 system, and was told by Dell that because of the SLI
video capability that 2 gig was the maximum RAM visible in a 32-bit OS.

Depends on how much ram is on the video cards. 4gb is the max addressable
memory space on 32bit OS. All hardware needs addressable memory space too so
that gets subtracted from the ram seen. I have 4gb and it is all usable on
Vista but on XP it sees 3.25gb only.
