Hi all,

Are there any programs out there that require
and are designed for the 64 bit version of Vista
and won't even install on the 32 bit version?

thanks,
charles....

There probably are, but I haven't seen any. 64 Bit computing is only now
coming out of it's infancy in the mainstream, and most software
developers out there will likely stick to 32 Bit for a while yet.

It'll be akin to suicide to develop mainstream software that will only
work on x64 OSes (unless it's a niche market like aerospace enginerring
or research facilities, but those guys usually have their own in-house
developers).

That's why most software houses release both 32 Bit and 64 Bit versions
of their software (often in the same package).

Check the following:
http://www.3dvelocity.com/articles/w...vesoftlist.htm

Its usually developers developing in house apps though, don't expect to see
a lot of name brand commericial software since the existing 32 bit versions
perform well already on the platform.

There are x64 applications avalible but there is usually a x86
counterpart as well.

So yes there are programs written explicitly for x64 but most all have
a x86 sister apps for the slow to adapte crowd.
