Hi, please help me with signing into windows live messenger. I constantly get
error code 80048820, extended error code 80048411 when i try to log in. I
believed that this is a time/date issue which i have checked and are both
correct. My Vista firewall is turned off and have no other firewalls
installed. I don't know where to go from here.

Greetings Paul,

Well, as a starting point, can you log in with your Live ID using Internet Explorer at
http://account.live.com?

Hi Jonathon, I have had the laptop at my home and it connects perfectly well
using Lan through my Netgear router. But when i return it to it's owners
house it doesn't want to know. When on the windows live site it signs in
perfectly ok.

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Hi Jonathon,

I just thought that i would tell you how it ended. I re-configured the
router and changed the MTU to 1450. This has sorted it out now. It signs in
perfectly every time.

Hi Paul,

Great, glad to hear it. The MTU is another common thing that can cause problems with
connectivity (not just Messenger).
