Fix for error code 8007F0CC while downloading SP2. This error code seems to
be due to a modified boot.ini file. The most common reason for modifying the
boot.ini
is to overlay a new boot screen during windows boot. The generic,
unmodified line under the [operating systems] section of the boot.ini file
should look as follows.

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect

Some programs that change the boot screen add a variable to the end of this
line such as /Kernel='some-file-name'.exe

Remove this variable

And make sure that (http 1.1 through proxy connections in Internet) is on

Follow these instructions to enable the option:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Advanced tab, clear the Use HTTP 1.1 check box.
4. Select the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections check box.
5. Attempt to open the Windows Update site again.
6. If you are still experiencing this problem you can try selecting both the
HTTP 1.1 check box and the HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections check box.

Reboot, and try the SP2 install again.

Good Luck!
